The other night I found myself thinking, do humans really need education?

Education, in a way, complicates our lives. Why can't we just live simply, like dogs and cats, who seem to enjoy life without complex thoughts? Do we really need to chase after some utopia? Can't we just live naturally? If conflict arises, let it be because it's a natural part of life. Do we even need equality? I'd love to have it, but I don't think I need it. I'm a living being, capable of jealousy and violence, and maybe that's okay.

In the days that followed, I talked about these thoughts with my parents, and it reminded me of a belief I've held for a long time, society needs education. The foundation of any thriving society is education. Without it, we can't hope to move forward. With better education, the world could get closer to achieving utopia. Leaders would truly know how to lead, people would be equipped to solve problems, and we’d all be better at managing resources. Our infrastructure would be improved because we'd have the knowledge to build and sustain it. Education is the cornerstone of progress and the key to a brighter future.

But despite this, the lack of education is still a big problem. Many people around the world don't have access to the education that could change their lives. Some understand its importance, but many don't realize how crucial education is. And by education, I don't just mean schools and books, I mean parenting. Parents play the most important role in shaping their children, teaching them how to be themselves. But many parents don't realize that they aren't educating their children properly because they themselves are too "uneducated" to see it. We need to break this cycle and make sure each generation is better educated than the last so they can raise their children the right way. Only then can we truly unlock the potential of education to create a better world.
