Warhammer 40.000 is a tabletop game created by Games Workshop and what is a tabletop game you might ask well a tabletop game is almost the same as a board game but the terrain and the game pice is played on a table not in on the board, but today I'm not talking about the Warhammer 40.000 the board game ill be talking about the lore. let's jump to the 41st Millenium where humanity is in a state of chaos and a religious battle, one man called the emperor steps in and ended the conflict by fighting and using magic powers to defeat his opponent. after he finished all conflicts of humanity he created 20 sons called the Primarchs to help the emperor's growing legions, the Primarchs name and legions are Horus (Sons of Horus), Lemman Russ (Space Wolf), Ferrus Manus (Iron Hands), Fulgrim ( Emperor's Children), Vulkan (Salamanders), Rogal Dorn (Imperial Fists), Roboute Guilliman (Ultramarines), Magnus the Red (Thousand sons), Sanguinius (Blood Angles), Lion El'Jonson (Dark Angles), Perturabo (Iron Warriors), Mortarion (Death Guard), Lorgar (Word Bearers), Jaghatai Khan (White Scars), Konrad Cruze (Night Lords), Angron (World Eaters), Corvus Corax (Raven Guard), Alpharius Omegon (Alpha Legion). And these Legions have their own soldier called the space marine, the space marine is a genetically modified human that almost follows the same power and strength as their Primarchs 

The sons of the emperor almost have the same powers as the emperor with some have more magic powers and some with no magic powers but have amazing mele combat, and one day The Chaos Gods (The Chaos Gods are dark and evil monsters that live in the Warp, the Warp is a dark place where every human emotion, soul, thinking, and many more go and the warp is a dangerous place where it can make a person go crazy or corrupted if they go in for too long) The Chaos Gods makes one of the emperor's son Horus to turn against the emperor and the started The Horus Heresy. Horus brings his other Brothers to fight against the emperor like Horus, Fulgrim, Lorgar, Perturabo, Mortarion, Angron, Magnus the Red, Konrad Cruze, and Alpharius Omegon.

The rest of the Primarchs defended the emperor and earth in casualty 2.3 trillion people died, and in the heat of the battle Horus confront the emperor. As they fought the emperor had the upper hand but he can't kill his favorite son, and out of nowhere Horus strike a fatal blow to the emperor almost killing him. The last thing the emperor did was ripping the soul out of Horus, in the end the other Legion who fought the emperor fled to other planets and solar system. After the incident of Horus Heresy humanity has lost its leader and lost 1.2 trillion people in the incident, out of nowhere people start making the emperor as a god of humanity and created a religion with a very strict rule. And humanity created more and more ideology with religious zealotry and having ordos for different tasks to prove to the emperor that humanity is still pure.

these ordos are the Inquisition, Adeptus Mechanicus, Adeptus Ministorum, and Adeptus Astartes. Every ordo has its own branch of tasks like the inquisition have the Ordo Malleus (to fight all chaos Legion), Ordo Xenos (to fight all alien that is not human), Ordo Hereticus (to fight all Heretic / Heretic are people who don't believe in the god-emperor). the  Adeptus Mechanicus are people who change their body parts with machines and created all of humanity's weapons but they have their own god called The Omnisayah, the Omnisayah is the god of technology and machine. the Adeptus Ministorum is an Ordo that preaches the god-emperor and making him a god, funny thing is they have their own military called the Sisters of Battle with their job is to fight all Heretic and also a part of the Ordo Hereticus. and the last is Adeptus Astartes, Adeptus Astartes was created after the battle of Horus Heresy and inside it is the emperor's Primarchs with their Loyal Legions like the Ultramarine, Space Wolf, Blood Angles, Imperial Fists, Dark Angles, Raven Guard, and Salamanders. And the last thing humanity did to still have a good defense military is by creating the Astra Militarum, inside the Astra Militarum is just normal human with not much magic but more firepower and these humans are called the Guardsmen

In the next hundred of years, humanity has to fight for survival while other aliens and Chaos Legion attack them. And one of Horus's Brother Alpharius Omegon has been planing an attack at one of humanity's most resourceful planet called Cadia, a quote from Alpharius Omegon " I will strike upon thee human and show the true power of my 13th Alpha Legion Fleet, ill make Cadia fall"
