I was coming home late from a friend’s house tonight, and on the drive back home I realized that I really liked the different vibes of a night-time ride. The familiar streets are vastly different from how they usually are during the day, not crowded and polluted but clear and free. The night air is cold and refreshing, especially after I’ve been in the sun and rain all day. Seeing the distant glowing tail lights and the colorful passing signs was strangely peaceful. 

The scene immediately reminds me of the outrun aesthetic that I love; night-time drives, neon lights and 80s synth-pop music. The glitched-out setting sun like from a vhs tape, moving grids, the pink and purple color scheme, it all just fits together perfectly to form the outrun aesthetic. In my head I’m playing the soundtrack from the film “Drive”, which has a prominent outrun aesthetic. The track “Nightcall” by Kavinsky jumped to the front of my mind, I had it in my head all the way until I arrived home.
