Philosophy is a subject that for me my self is confusing, after gleaming over the writing of Sartre and Kierkegaard I found a new philosopher to read and his name is Friedrich Nietzsche, here I'm not going to talk about his background but ill tell you my experience reading his book called "Beyond Good and Evil". the book is very emotionally driven, there are times when he talks about other philosophers and there are times when he talks about society, and his writing changes depending on how you read it, some writing would be enlightenment for people while some would talk about other philosophers scheme or trickery and I sense that in all of his writing there are emotions or a vision that he wants to achieve. in many of the rants in his book, every time he wants to tell bad things about people there's a sense of "irony" and he talks about how he hated "Dogmatism" and the self-profound truth seeker in philosophy.
At the beginning of his book, he wrote "SUPPOSING that Truth is a woman--what then?" this line for many people may sound offensive and brings the stereotype that "All women are right". people who just read the quote and immediately judge Nietzsche are blinded by the actual message Nietzsche is trying to tell, the full quote of that writing has more meaning behind it "SUPPOSING that Truth is a woman--what then? Is there not ground for suspecting that all philosophers, in so far as they have been dogmatists, have failed to understand women--that the terrible seriousness and clumsy importunity with which they have usually paid their addresses to Truth, have been unskilled and unseemly methods for winning a woman? Certainly she has never allowed herself to be won; and at present every kind of dogma stands with sad and discouraged mien--IF, indeed, it stands at all! For there are scoffers who maintain that it has fallen, that all dogma lies on the ground--nay more, that it is at its last gasp." this word really amaze me and shockingly changed my view on other philosophers.
Many of Nietzsche's writing I wish I could have read and one of them is called " Gay Science" cause I'm very interested in why would someone use the word gay science as the title of their books and what does it give? what meaning does it have? and what's the purpose of that writing? some of this questions I would love to answer and I'm still trying to find more philosophy books, but not European philosophers---- I want to read Indonesian philosopher
I think that's it for now I will continue more writing and let's see where my mind goes
