"Would this live-in be A Little Life or The Life of a Stupid Man?"
Alas, my dream of writing everyday since 03:17 AM of a Tuesday morning was not able to be realised. Although, I'm not particularly disappointed with this fact, for my daily activities are rather eventful and productive so far, save from Sunday which is the day I'm writing this blog. To briefly recap this week's "odyssey", I shall say the highlights of this week: I went to Jakarta which is something so in frequent, on top of having my second and third flight, staying overnight in Bali without a roof up on our head, and lastly─which doesn't sound like the climax─arriving in Sumba; even there are more to it than merely "arriving" at Sumba.
I'm gonna start to write my journey starting from Tuesday: It was 12:28 at a gloomy Sunday evening; we just finished rechecking our stuff for us to live in Sumba. I like to think that each one of our bag somewhat represents the crew that are going to Sumba, almost like it's a gimmick or a trope that you'll find in most cartoons: My bag is of course full of self-hygiene equipments and anything that's related to the comfort of a big city resident routine; things like skincare, cotton buds, medicines, umbrella, fans, et cetera. Two of us brought a whole bag chockful of foods and snacks (which has been proven to be the the most used convenience here so far). Surprisingly, one of us doesn't seem to have any remarkable gimmick other than being the most weightless out of four of us.
I was really admiring the utterly dense and green scenery of our forest in the highway, because I was very conscious that this might be the final chance I get to see such tranquil and serene view before my departure to Sumba. I was also paid extra attention to every bits of entity you may perceive in Jakarta; and we were lucky enough to witness the LRT and Woosh operating within the city area. For some reasons, you could say that I was mesmerised with most things I could detect with my sense; it is after all the last ride in full comfort, so I must cherish it in such manner.
There's nothing particularly interesting at the airport, but I have to be frank here, I was completely disappointed with the fact that the facility and the private business sector is... quite underwhelming when you consider that this is the biggest airport in all Indonesia; granted it was the station for domestic flight, but the verdict based on what I felt remains the same for it bear no pity. The procedure was pretty mundane, but I found it ridiculous that a classmate of mine brought SEVEN packs of various brand of cigarettes in his pocket, which had to be scanned through the security. I didn't get to buy the last cup of coffee before I went to the waiting area just before the boarding area; it felt like we were in a purgatory. It might sound silly, but I had a thought that was considering if we were departing from paradiso to inferno, or inferno to paradiso. I didn't fully dismiss the thought, because I think it could be a good way to determine what I experienced in Sumba,
The flight was delayed for about an hour, and we couldn't wait anymore to board the plane. It was my second flight, and unfortunately I didn't get the seat near the window, but my classmate kindly enough took a pic of the view from up above, and it was lovely: It reminded me of a thought I had long ago, where I imagine that we humans have made our own star. Suffice to say, I was correct, despite the fact of the amount of energy consumed to create such view which nature created so seamlessly. Sometimes, we'd even destroy nature creation too, and most of us are not even aware of that! We were entrance with our own creation to the point where we sometimes paid a blind eye to what was there before ours, and we that opportunity, what a loss! Perhaps ignorance isn't as blissful as what they say; but I digress. I must say that the plane ride was not very pleasant: I still couldn't bear the air compression and decompression in the plane, it was─to put it shortly─extremely nauseating, and agitating. And the fact that the air conditioning of the plane doesn't seem to work made it even worse than it should've been.
If you're enjoying the read so far, I shall link the blog of the next part of my journey. But for now, I must end it here, because frankly I've got a quota to fulfill. Greeting Kak Gina, I sent my regards.
