And I Shall Fly Once More
3rd-4th July 2021
Wings against this wide, wide sky
A speck among the cloudlets white
Higher, higher, I shall fly,
Towards the brazen blaze of light.
Now free, I shall roam above
Lost yet found, alone but content
As I expect, there comes a shove.
Again, bound am I to repent
Down I fall, with burning wings
Weighing down as I sink deep.
Guilt comes to mind, the anger sings,
Allowing all the grief to seep.
Before, up high, I was allowed
A moment to forget my sins,
But now, a heap upon the ground
All hope is gone and defeat wins.
For some time, I shall have to hide
And wait until my wings grow strong.
I'll contemplate, reflect and ride
Through this search for where I belong.
A day will come when hope shall show,
Or hope shall shine, or wash ashore
When that day comes, my hope shall grow
And I shall fly once more.
Definition of cloudlet: a small cloud
This is the first poem I have written in quite some time. It isn't about me or anyone in particular, so there is no need to worry! It is partly based on a fictional character I made.
