I would rather be ashes than dust.
I would rather that my spark would burn out in a brilliant blaze, than it should be stifled by dry-rot.
I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet.
The proper function of man is to live, not to exist.
I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them.
I shall use my time.
-Jack London-
So many people live their lives on autopilot, going through each day exactly like the last. Never making any waves, or doing anything that says to the world “I am here”. Only caring about their own well-being, making only a minimal difference in the life of others. I don’t want to live in that comfortable monotony, the purpose of life is to experience its highs and lows as much as possible. The sweetness of love and the pain of heartbreak, the laughter shared with friends and the loneliness of being away from home, all of these vastly different experiences contextualizes one another, and can even be gleaned as the meaning of life itself.
Hear hear!
